Questions to Ask Your Doctor

Updated:

You can take steps to ensure your own safety at a medical center. The State Health Division recommends asking these questions:

  • How does the staff sterilize equipment after each patient?
  • Are single or multiple dose vials used at this facility?
  • are label instructions followed specifically?
  • Are syringes and needles disposed of after each patient?
  • Has your facility ever received a complaint of the spread of an infectious disease to another patient as a result of staff practices?

Patients can also request a copy of the facilities Infection Control Policies. In addition, a patient can request a copy of the most recent federal survey or complaint survey conducted at the facility by the Nevada State Health Division's Bureau of Licensure and Certification by writing to:

Nevada State Health Division
Bureau of Licensure and Certification
1420 Maryland Pkwy. Bldg D, Ste. 810
Las Vegas, NV 89119
(702) 468-6515

Or you can email the BLC at blcweb@health.nv.gov
