UPDATE: 2 people struck, 1 killed by vehicle near Fort Apache and Lake South Drive

LAS VEGAS - Two people were hit by a vehicle in Summerlin Tuesday night.  According to Metro Police, one of the victims, a 71-year-old female, died from her injuries at the hospital. The other pedestrian remains in the hospital.

The happened in the area of S. Fort Apache Road and Lake South Drive around 8 p.m.

Metro says there were three pedestrians in the crosswalk. The two pedestrians hit were taken to University Medical Center with very serious injuries.  The driver remained on scene.

The crash remains under investigation. This is the 99th traffic-related fatality in Metro's jurisdiction this year.
