2,385 marijuana plants seized, destroyed by law enforcement officers

NYE COUNTY, Nev. - The Nye County Sheriff's office is still searching for the people responsible for growing more than 2,300 marijuana plants in Nye County.

According to deputies, 2,385 marijuana plants were seized when they were found buried in a huge put on a mountain in the Railroad Valley area of northeast Nye County.

All of the plants were removed by helicopter in approximately 13 helicopter trips.

During the raid, two people were also seen on the outside grow area, but they escaped apprehension when they fled the area on foot.  A DNA sample was collected from their camp.

The operation was led by the U.S. Forest Service in partnership with the Nye County Sheriff's Office as the home agency. Other participating agencies included the Drug Enforcement Agency, the U.S. Bureau of Land Management, and Nevada Game
Wardens.
