3 Killed, 6 Hurt in Detroit Barbershop Shooting

DETROIT (AP) -- Detroit police say gunfire broke out at a barbershop on the city's east side, leaving at least three people dead.

Police spokeswoman Kelly Miner said the shootings happened about 6 p.m. at Al's Barber Shop. Miner says nine people were shot and three of them are confirmed dead.

Miner says she doesn't know the ages or sexes of the victims or how many people may have been shooting. The barbershop is in a strip mall along a major road. Police Chief James Craig told reporters at the scene that "suspects engaged a couple of victims" and says "several shots were fired."

Craig and Miner say they have few other details on the shooting.
