6-yr-old Zaiden has wheels, just no forever family

Las Vegas, NV - Six years old, and with his whole life in front of him, this week's Wednesday's Child personifies the saying:  "don't judge a book by its cover".  Dave Courvoisier introduces us to Zaiden.

Right now, Zaiden gets around on wheels, but don't think for a minute he's disengaged. Zaiden didn't miss a thing here at the Seaquarium...'wanted to be a part of it all.

"Zaiden came to us about a year and a half ago and at the time he wasn’t really walking, he was really quiet and now he cruises around everywhere in his chair and he walks with help, and he smiles and laughs and just really likes to play with people," says Stephanie, the director of Rehab where Zaiden is cared for.

Zaiden doesn't communicate like everyone else, but he has an ingratiating way of letting you know what he thinks.

"A lot of facial expressions. You’ll see when he sad or something hurts through the look on his face including what is happy, and once you’re around him for a while you’ll kind of figure of his routine," adds Stephanie

Zaiden got the biggest kick out of the ocean animals... He's bright and quick to learn activities -- especially basketball.

"Oh, he loves basketball. If you give him a ball he will hold it in one hand and go and if you could get them on a wheelchair basketball team he would be an all-star. He’s fantastic and coordinated like that, so any type of ball play he likes to play with blocks stacking and kind of knocking them over," claims Stephanie.

Zaiden will likely need some level of care the rest of his life, but he would also bring a lot of joy to the right family.

"He would bring opportunity to be creative and to find things that they like and if he’s around other kids he’s going to bring that family together and bring those kids together. I don’t think he would scare anybody away from loving him, if that makes sense… he craves it and he needs it," says Stephanie.

Zaiden is ready for adoption.  Get started by calling the Adoption Exchange right now.  Their  number is 702-436-6335.
