$600 Million Jackpot Draws Thousands to Stateline

Lines of people were wrapped around The Lotto Store twice this weekend for the second largest lottery in the history of Powerball. The jackpot has grown to $600 million.

People tell 8 News Now they waited in line for hours to buy tickets, but say it is worth it.

"You have to play so that you can win and if there is a chance, hopefully I can get something," said one man who purchased a ticket.

Many of the people in line made the trip from Las Vegas and were dressed to battle the heat.

The odds of winning the $600 million dollar jackpot is one in 175-million.

We asked people what they would do with so much money and Priscilla Shannon said, "I'd just live comfortably and donate a lot of it to the people that are disadvantaged."

If for some reason no one wins the Powerball, the jackpot could surpass $900 million dollars.

California just recently joined the Powerball game and already The Lotto Store at Primm has become a top seller of Powerball Tickets.

Powerball organizers expect more large jackpots because of the large California population.
