8-year-old boy dies after drowning at Cowabunga Bay

LAS VEGAS - 8-year-old Daquan Bankston has died after drowning at Cowabunga Bay last Sunday, according to the child's uncle. 

Jerome Burks told 8 News NOW his nephew passed away around 11:31 p.m. on Friday after being on life-support since his drowning. 

Burks described Daquan as an "awesome little boy" who attended Carson Elementary. 

"We believed God would pull through," he added. "We're bleeding."

Cowabunga Bay's Management released the following statement regarding Daquan's passing: 

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.  Our utmost concern is the safety and enjoyment of all our guests.  The circumstances of this tragic incident are being investigated and we will have further comment upon completion of the investigation."

Daquan's family has started a GoFundMe page where they are raising money for the child's funeral services. Burks also says the child's family has hired an attorney.
