Acts of Kindness: Meg Rhoades

LAS VEGAS - Joey's is the place where musicians off the Strip go every Saturday night after they are done performing.

It is also a place people have come to celebrate great lives of loved ones who have passed, thanks to Meg Rhoades.

"Meg has done so much for so many people, and now, she needs our help," said Rhoades' friend Pamela Williams.

Rhoades, a mother of two, is experiencing a lot of pain these days. She is battling an autoimmune and degenerative spine disease.

Williams nominated Rhoades for Acts of Kindness.

"It's my chance to show her that we can also be there for her the same that she has been here for us, even in her last days," Williams said.

Williams' fiancé died last year. He was a musician. Rhoades set up a benefit to celebrate his life. She did the same thing two years ago when Marie Hernandez's husband passed away.

"She saved me in a time when I really needed somebody to step up and do something for me," Hernandez said.

Meg possesses a wonderful ability to put people at ease during very emotional and difficult times. She was a nurse for 25 years. For five of those years, she cared for folks at Nathan Adelson Hospice.

8 News NOW is rewarding Meg Rhoades' years of selfless acts by awarding her $800 as part of its Acts of Kindness series.

She says she can really use the money. Her son's moped was recently stolen, and he uses it to get her medication.
