Arrest report details woman's sex trafficking ordeal

LAS VEGAS - After 19 months of sex-trafficking, the victim said she finally had enough of it to ask a friend to help her escape to a women's shelter, according to her husband's arrest report.

The victim is the wife of Jason Quate who is charged with sex trafficking and other crimes.

According to the arrest report, the woman said she had to earn at least $200 a night and turn the money over to Quate or she was beaten. She told police, she has also not been allowed to speak to her two children for at least three years.

A third child, who is no longer with the family, is believed to be the child whose body was discovered this week in a garage at an Illinois home.

The woman told police her family had three separate incidents with Department of Child and Family Services in Illinois. One incident involved the school principal who reported the family because he observed Jason Quate inappropriately kiss one of the children on the lips. Another incident involved a child having bruising on the head, the report said.

Both cases were determined to be unfounded. When the couple found they were under investigation a third time, the report said, Jason Quate advised the family to pack their belongings and they moved to a location near a casino in St. Louis.

Quate's wife said, it was at this time, Jason told her to start working as a prostitute to bring in money so they could go to Las Vegas. He threatened to beat or kill her if she didn't do it.

In Jan. 2016, the family arrived in Las Vegas. The woman told police, Quate forced her to start working right away. The report said she was earning around $3,800 a month.

In June, she said, she began hiding some money and on June 5 she had a friend drive her to Shade Tree shelter where she shared her story and Metro was notified, the report said.

According to Metro, the woman did tell police that Quate did kill their youngest child in 2013 and hid the child's body in a garage in Centreville, Illinois.

Quate is also facing charges of child abuse and possession of pornography of a child under 16. He has not been charged with murder.

He is due in court on the other charges on Monday.
