Arrest Report: Ex-Con Threatened to Cut Schoolgirl

LAS VEGAS -- The ex-con accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl threatened to cut the girl if she didn't follow his commands, according to the arrest report for Richard Schlacta.

The girl was at Woodbury Middle School around 6 a.m. to catch a bus to her magnet school program in another part of the city. She told police she first noticed Schlacta, 48, hanging around the tennis court. She told police she was locking up her bicycle when he grabbed her and walked her around a shed.

According to the report released Friday, Schlacta held a box cutter to the girl's face and threatened to cut her as he ordered her to perform oral sex on him. As Schlacta attempted to remove the girl's clothing, she was able to break free and run for help. She flagged down a motorist who stopped and called police.

The girl did suffer injuries on her arms and elbow as she struggled with Schlacta, the report said. Schlacta was caught and arrested by police after a short chase. He was found hiding under a trailer.

Bail Set at $1M for Schlacta

Schlacta did make his first appearance in court Friday morning. His bail was set at $1 million.

Schlacta is facing multiple charges including sexual assault of a victim under 14, kidnapping and battery. His next court date is Sept. 26 for a preliminary hearing.

Schlacta's Lengthy Criminal Record in California

Schlacta has a lengthy criminal record in California. Documents show Schlacta in prison four times. The California Department of Corrections issued the following statement on his case:

"Pursuant to the three strikes law, the courts had decided that Richard Schlacta had two serious strikes against him. Schlacta did not have a prior state sex-offense in California and was not required to register as a sex-offender. "

Police are looking into Schlacta's past to see if there may be more victims.

"We would like to hear from anybody who has any information about him or any contact with him that could be a criminal act," said Lt. Dan McGrath, Metro Police.
