Arrest warrant issued for fighter in Las Vegas assault

LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Authorities have issued a warrant for the arrest of a mixed martial arts fighter who police suspect of assaulting his ex-girlfriend in Las Vegas. Court

records dated Monday show the 32-year-old fighter known as War Machine is wanted on suspicion of domestic battery, strangulation, lewdness, assault and coercion stemming from an attack police say occurred on Friday.

Officers say the fighter, whose birth name is Jon Koppenhaver, is the primary suspect in a dispute that left his ex-girlfriend and another person with serious, non-life threatening injuries.

Bellator MMA President Scott Coker said his promotional company is dissolving its contract with the fighter in light of the accusations.

The welterweight fighter has had previous run-ins with the law and missed two years of his career while he spent time in jail.
