Attorney accused of stealing millions from clients pleads 'not guilty'

LAS VEGAS - The Las Vegas probate attorney accused of stealing millions of dollars from his clients pleaded not guilty on all eight counts during his morning court appearance Tuesday.

"This came to our attention only about 5 or 6 weeks ago, and we moved quickly," said Steve Wolfson, Clark County District Attorney.

Robert Graham appeared in Clark County District Court. He is facing multiple counts of theft, exploitation of an older person and destroying evidence.

"Oh my god," Mimi DeVore-Rigg, a victim said.  "I'm broke because that was the money I was going to live on for whatever rest of my life I had left."

Prosecutors believe the amount his clients have lost could add up to more than $15 million.

Wolfson would not say what happened to the money; he only told 8 News NOW it's an ongoing investigation.

"This was an important case to the community," Wolfson said.  "A lot of money has allegedly been stolen. We felt Mr. Graham may have been a flight risk and danger to the community and we felt that bringing charges swiftly was the right thing to do."

Wolfson also said, since the allegations against Graham have come to light, more and more victims have decided to come forward.

"The evidence consists of witness interviews and a lot of bank records because that showed where the money flowed from Point A to Point B," Wolfson said.

Graham could face additional charges. If convicted, he could face up to 90 years in prison.

In the meantime, Graham's alleged victims are doing all they can to make sure they survive.

"I'm still hoping that it's somewhere in the mishmash of stuff and if it isn't, then I will do what I have to do to survive," DeVore-Rigg said.   "I mean, I at least have some social security and retirement coming in, but I know there's got to be people out there that don't even have that. Those I feel really sorry for."

His trial is set for Sept. 5.
