Baby killed in shooting identified

LAS VEGAS - The Clark County Coroner's Office has identified the infant struck by gunfire Saturday night as 25-day-old Marcus Cleveland Thomas.

The death has been ruled a homicide caused by multiple gunshot wounds.

Thomas was killed and a 22-year-old man wounded when the car they were in was hit by gunfire.

According to North Las Vegas Police, a shooter or shooters opened fire on the car which was in an apartment parking lot on E. Deer Springs around 9:15 p.m. Saturday. There were three children and two adults in the car.

The female teen driver attempted to rush the shooting victims to the hospital but crashed the car, police said.

Medical responders transported the man and baby to University Medical Center where the child died. The man was treated for his injuries.
