Bail Set for Accused Teacher, Kidnapper

LAS VEGAS - A Las Vegas Justice Court judge has set bail for teacher and accused kidnapper Melvyn Sprowson at $530,000.

Sprowson, a kindergarten teacher at Wengert Elementary School, was arrested Friday on charges of kidnapping, contributing to delinquency of a minor and and lying to police. A 16-year-old girl reported missing was found staying at his apartment.

Sprowson was ordered not to have any contact with the teen or her family members.

Teacher union records show this is Sprowson's first year of teaching in Las Vegas.
