Body discovered in rugged terrain in southeast valley

LAS VEGAS - Police and volunteers are working to recover a body found in rugged terrain in the southeast part of the Las Vegas Valley.

The body was discovered Friday morning several miles off of Horizon Ridge Parkway and Ray Ave by volunteers with Red Rock Search and Rescue.

Police located the car of the person in the area and called the group to conduct the search, said Russell Boyd, RRSR.

Boyd said they started searching for the missing person last weekend.

The team is currently working to recover the body from the remote area, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Police say it's too early at this point to know how the person died. No other details were immediately available.
