Body of missing Wisconsin man found at Lake Mead

LAS VEGAS - Search crews recovered the body of a missing person at Lake Mead National Recreation Area on Thursday. 

Thomas A. Olsen of La Crosse, Wisconsin was discovered around 10:00 a.m. about 15 feet from the shoreline near the Sunset View Scenic Overlook, according to the La Crosse Police Department.

The search began on Tuesday when park rangers came across a vehicle which was illegally parked and appeared to have been there for several days, police said.

Investigators determined the vehicle was rented by Olsen who was reported missing. 

On Wednesday, park rangers along with teams with the Nevada Department of Wildlife and Red Rock Search and Rescue started an extensive land and water search. 

The Clark County Coroner's Office confirmed Olsen's identity.

Park rangers and Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office are currently investigating the circumstances surround Olsen's death.
