Suspect involved in officer-involved shooting has died

LAS VEGAS - Metro is investigating a deadly officer-involved shooting that happened early Tuesday morning. The shooting took place near the intersection of Cimarron Road and Charleston Boulevard.

Police say officers arrived at an apartment complex just as a woman and a child were exiting an apartment. Police searched the apartment and found the suspect hiding in a closet.

Officers say the suspect had a knife and ignored commands to drop it. Officers say they also tried using an electronic stun device on the suspect, but it was ineffective. Metro says the suspect lunged at officers with the knife and that's when two officers opened fire.

The suspect was hit and taken to a nearby hospital where he later died. The shooting remains under investigation.

This is the ninth police shooting and fourth deadly shooting by Metro this year.
