Burned woman's body identified by police

LAS VEGAS - The body of a burned woman found near a northwest apartment complex has been identified as a local 20-year-old Geranique Bentley, according to Las Vegas Metro Police.

Her body was found on March 11 at approximately 11 a.m. at an apartment complex located in the 700 block of Rock Springs Drive near Washington Avenue.

According to investigators, a neighbor found Bentley's badly burned body on Saturday after noticing burn marks on a wall in a remote corner of the complex.

Metro described the woman as a light skinned African American female, between the ages of 16-20.  She's believed to be 5'4", weighing about 100 pounds.

They're still trying to determine who killed the woman before setting her body on fire.

Metro explained it's not clear if the Bentley was targeted or if she knew her killer, but officers did say that they didn't believe the public was in danger.

Metro wants anyone who might know anything about this case to call Crime Stoppers by phone at 702-385-5555, on the internet at www.crimestoppersofnv.com, or text CRIMENV plus tip information to 274637 (CRIMES).
