Businesses rally for 1 October shooting victim

LAS VEGAS - Rylie Golgart was shot in the back during the 1 October attack on the Las Vegas Strip.

Golgart is recovering at a rehabilitation facility in Colorado while the Las Vegas community rallies together to support her.

On Saturday, family and friends hosted a raffle in her honor to help raise money for Rylie's ever-growing medical costs.

Local businesses donated everything from spa days to gift baskets with the all proceeds going directly to the family. Organizers say it's important for the community to keep the fundraising momentum going when supporting Rylie's road to recovery.

Golgart family friends marvel at Rylie’s strength.

"That girl is amazing," family friend Shelli Ornelas said.

Family friends are doing their part to help the Nevada State College student in the months ahead.

"We've come to know the family and they're such great people and to see something like this, a tragedy happens in their family, so close to home,” family friend Amanda Silvas said. “We wanted to raise money specifically for someone affected and Riley is only 18 years old -- her whole life is ahead of her.”

Organizers say some people didn't even want raffle tickets, they just made donations.
