Calif. Fugitive Arrested in Northeast Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS -- A U.S. Marshal's task force arrested a fugitive wanted on an attempted murder charge in California Tuesday afternoon.

Just before Jesse Pineda's arrest, Metro Police locked down two elementary schools near Alexander and Pecos roads. The police said the lockdown was precautionary and the schools' students and staff weren't in any danger.

Pineda, 21, was arrested several blocks away from the schools and taken to the Clark County Detention Center to await extradition.

The task force was made up of marshals, Homeland Security agents, Metro Police agents, Nevada Highway Patrol and Nevada Department of Investigation members.
