Canadiens jump on Golden Knights early, hold off late Vegas surge in 3-2 win

Montreal, Quebec - The Golden Knights first ever east coast road trip came to a rocky end Tuesday night in Montreal.

The Canadiens quick start to the first period paced the Habs in a 3-2 victory despite a late push by the Knights in the final seconds. It’s Montreal’s sixth win in their last eight games.

With the loss, the Knights finished the road trip at 1-4-1 with the only win coming against Ottawa on Saturday. On the season, Gerard Gallant’s team is 9-5-1 and remains in second place in the Pacific Division.

Pierre-Edouard Bellemere and Erik Haula scored for the Knights.

The Winnipeg Jets visit the T-Mobile Arena on Friday, faceoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
