Candlelight vigil held for fallen NLVPD detective

LAS VEGAS - Law enforcement and community members attended a candlelight vigil for fallen North Las Vegas Police Detective Chad Parque is planned on Sunday night.

The vigil took place on January 8th at the corner of Martin Luther King Boulevard and Carey Avenue.

Detective Parque was on-duty when he was leaving the North Las Vegas Justice Court. A driver heading southbound on Martin Luther King Boulevard entered the lanes of oncoming traffic and struck Detective Parque's vehicle, said NLVPD investigators.

Detective Parque succumbed to his injuries early Saturday morning after fighting for his life and a great effort from UMC medical staff, said NLVPD.

Detective Parque was 32 years old and described as a great husband, father, brother and investigator by the department. He worked for NLVPD for 10 Years.
