Car Strikes Pedestrian Near Flamingo and Maryland

LAS VEGAS -- Metro Police are investigating an accident that sent a pedestrian to the hospital in critical condition.

The accident happened shortly after 8 p.m. Police say the pedestrian, 66-year-old Donald McKay of Phoenix, Arizona, was walking outside a crosswalk on Flamingo Road near Maryland Parkway, when a Honda struck him.

Investigators said McKay sustained injuries to his leg and head. He was transported to Sunrise Trauma Center.

Police have not cited the driver of the Honda, 22-year-old Derek Minyard of Las Vegas.
