CCSD announces 14 internal candidates for superintendent job

LAS VEGAS - There are 14 current or former CCSD employee candidates vying for the superintendent's position. The names were announced Monday morning.

The candidates are: Mike Barton, Ed. D., chief academic officer, Cody. O. Claver, former teacher, Mark Coleman, former deputy director for the Clark County Assoc. of School Administrators, Jhone M. Ebert, former chief technology officer, Robert A. Gerye, former principal, Deborah Gruner, former substitute principal, John S. Haynal, "franchise" principal, Mollie Ann Holt, former substitute teacher and support staff, Timothy S. Hughes, former teacher, April Lealia Key, Ed.S., assistant superintendent, Antonio Rael, school associate superintendent, Michele Robinson, Ed.D., former teacher, Jesse Welsh, Ed.D., assistant superintendent and Eva M. White, Ed.D, former assistant superintendent.

The candidates will be reviewed by the Board of Trustees Thursday and interviews will begin next week. There will be a meet the public event on April 28.

There are also three out-of-state candidates: Donald Haddad, superintendent, St. Vrain Valley Schools in Longmont, Colorado; Shonda Huery Hardman, Ed.D, coach, consultant, urban specialist, Franklin Covey; and Jesus Jara, Ed.D, deputy superintendent of Orange County Public Schools in Florida.

A final decision is expected on May 2.
