CCSD Board of Trustees Approves New Support Staff Contract

LAS VEGAS - The Clark County School District Board of Trustees unanimously approved a new contract with the Education Support Employees Association Thursday night.

The new contract takes effect immediately and affects approximately 10,000 support employees. CCSD School Board President Carolyn Edwards says the two-year deal provides support workers a two percent cost of living increase each year. She says the school district will also pay for a one percent increase in the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS).

"The Clark County School District (CCSD) employees represented by the Education Support Employees Association made sacrifices over the past few years so we could balance our budget during the worst of our economic crisis, for which we are appreciative," Edwards said.

"Our support staff employees are essential to the day-to-day operation of our district. We appreciate their work and we are glad to agree on a contract that does not include cuts to their salaries. We also continue to work together to provide the best possible benefits to employees and their families."
