The countdown is also on for the Clark County School District because there are just five days left until the first day of class and there’s still about 300 teacher vacancies that need to be filled.
That number is a major improvement compared to last year. The district had about 1,000 spots that needed to be filled in 2015.
However, it’s still not where CCSD wishes to be, so for now, many of the classrooms short teachers will be occupied by substitute teachers.
8 News NOW Reporter Sharie Johnson found out why this will have an impact on schools that are already poor performing schools.
