CCSD Wants the Public to Weigh in on Budget Cuts

LAS VEGAS -- The Clark County School District is holding four town hall meetings tonight to get the public's input on budget cuts the district is facing.

The district, which is facing a $250 - $400 million budget shortfall, is also encouraging people to take a survey on their website that lists proposed cuts.

The meetings take place on Tuesday, March 15 from 6 - 8 p.m. at:

  • Chaparral High School, 3850 Annie Oakley Dr., Las Vegas, 89121
  • Cimarron-Memorial High School, 2301 N. Tenaya Way, Las Vegas, 89128
  • Mojave High School, 5302 Goldfield St., North Las Vegas, 89031
  • Sierra Vista High School, 8100 W. Robindale Rd., Las Vegas, 89113

CCDS Superintendent Dwight Jones is hoping the public feedback will give a better idea of where to make the cuts. "What we've got are pretty difficult decisions to make, and we want to hear from the community, you know, when everything's on the table, I think it's important for the community to say what matters most."
