Centennial flyover brings traffic relief to the northwest

LS VEGAS - The commute in the northwest part of the valley should be smoother. Drivers will be able to travel on the Centennial Bowl interchange.

NDOT and community leaders celebrated the grand opening Wednesday by draping a 50 by 20 foot American flag off the project.

The new flyover connects westbound 215 to southbound U.S. 95. It's a half-mile long.

NDOT says it will improve traffic, mobility and safety for drivers at the third busiest interchange in the state.
The Regional Flood Control District is one of several agencies that pitched in for the $47 million project.

"They pitched in for some of the Regional Flood Control elements and boxed culverts that are underground. You can't see them but they protect life and property here in this northwest part of the valley," said Rudy Malfabon, director, NDOT.

This kicks off the first phase of the project.

NDOT says it will begin work on the eastside early next year with an expected completion date for the entire project by 2023.
