Child hit by car, rushed to UMC Trauma

LAS VEGAS - A child is in the hospital after being struck by a car Sunday morning at the intersection of Lake Mead Boulevard and Jones Boulevard, police said.

The driver appeared to not have noticed the group of children crossing the street in the marked crosswalk around 10:43 a.m., according to the Las Vegas Metro Police Department.

The driver struck one of the children. Medical responders rushed the child to UMC Trauma. The child is expected to survive, police said.

Police have closed eastbound Lake Mead Boulevard from Jones Boulevard for about 200 feet.
