City attorney for Boulder City resigns from position

BOULDER CITY, Nev. - After 17 years on the job, Dave Olsen, the embattled city attorney for Boulder City, has decided to step down.

The I-Team focused several stories on Olsen over the last three years because Olsen was a key player in several controversies surrounding Boulder City's government, including ethics charges against city council members, as well as his own ethics violations.

As city attorney, Olsen filed lawsuits against Boulder City residents who circulated petitions that would limit the powers of the city council.  However, that decision backfired against him when the citizens counter-sued causing the city to shell out around a $1 million in damages and legal fees.

In public comments, Olsen said he met with the Boulder City mayor Monday night, and they mutually agreed that the time was right for him to "retire."

Olsen plans to remain on the job through July and to assist the city in finding his replacement.
