Coroner IDs man shot, killed by police

LAS VEGAS - The Clark County Coroner's Office identified the man shot and killed by police earlier this week as 40-year-old Travis Doering.

Metro Police released new information about the shooting involving Doering and SWAT officers.

The shooting happened early Tuesday morning at a home near Twain Avenue and Lindell Road. Police responded to the home shortly after 3:30 a.m. amid reports the man was brandishing a rifle and threatened suicide.

Police and Doering engaged in a standoff that lasted more than an hour.

Police say Doering eventually walked out of the home with the rifle in his hand and pointed it at two uniformed patrol officers. SWAT officers then shot him and killed him.

This was the sixth officer-involved shooting in 2014.
