DA will not seek indictment against CA youth pastor

LAS VEGAS -- The Clark County District Attorney's Office decided it will not seek an indictment against a youth pastor from California in the death of a man in Dec. 2013.

The DA says 35-year-old Robert Cox will not face criminal charges because he could have been acting in self defense during the fight that led to 55-year-old Link Ellingson's death.

In June 2013, Cox was in Las Vegas with his family and a church group, when they stopped at a popular bar and restaurant for dinner. Ellingson and Cox got into a fight outside the bar. During the fight, Ellingson fell and hit his head on a curb. He never regained consciousness and died in December of that year.

After Ellingson's death, the DA's office charged Cox with murder but instead of a preliminary hearing the office decided to bring the case before the grand jury to further investigate it. However, the office says after investigating the case further it did not believe it could prove the case against Cox beyond a reasonable doubt.
