Data security breach at Albertsons stores

LAS VEGAS -- AB Acquisition LLC, which operates Albertsons stores, announced there was an unlawful intrusion to obtain credit and debit card information at some of its stores.

The period of unauthorized access is believed to have been from June 22, 2014 to July 17, 2014 and impacted stores in several states including Nevada.

At this time, company officials do not believe any cardholder's information was stolen. It's believed the intrusion has been contained and customers can safely use their credit and debit cards in its stores.

The company is offering customers, who used their cards during the compromised time, 12 months of complimentary consumer identity protection services. Information will be posted at Albertsons.com.

Federal authorities are investigating the incident.
