UPDATE: 16-year-old killed in crash by suspected impaired driver

LAS VEGAS - A 16-year-old boy is dead following a crash at the intersection of Durango Drive and Farm Road, according to Nevada Highway Patrol.

The crash happened on Thursday around 6:15 a.m. Investigators say a 47-year-old man driving a Chevy Trailblazer rear-ended the teen's green Honda at a high rate of speed.

Both drivers were transported to University Medical Center. The teen died at the hospital, investigators said.

The 47-year-old driver, David Fensch, who is suspected of impairment, received only minor injuries. According to NHP.

The intersection of Durango Drive and Farm Road was closed for more than six hours.  It reopened around 12:45 p.m., NHP says.
