LAS VEGAS - What started as a domestic disturbance near Vegas Drive and Cimarron Road and turned into a barricade situation that last around 24 hours is over.
The suspect was taken into custody and Vegas Drive reopened to traffic before 8 a.m.
Metro Police first received a call about the incident early Tuesday morning around 7:24 a.m.
Police said about a domestic dispute between a man and woman occurred at a home in the 7900 block of Decker Canyon Drive.
The woman was able to leave the residence, but the man was still inside. Metro Police did have to evacuate some nearby homes as a precaution, but the man did cooperate with officers.
Police were unable to substantiate any claims against the man, so an arrest wasn't made. Everything was said to have ended peacefully around 1:30 p.m.
However, hours later, around 4 p.m. the woman returned to the unit and tried to get inside, and that's when the man threw an object in her direction shattering the window and cutting the woman.
The woman was able to escape again and is said to be fine.
However, the man has barricaded himself in the home.
No one has been evacuated, and people are free to come and go as they please from the complex, Metro said.
According to police, Metro officers have been at the home a total of three times in 24 hours.
