Driver who hit boy, left scene turns self in

LAS VEGAS -- Metro police say a man who hit an 11-year-old boy and then took off has turned himself in.

The accident happened late Monday evening at the intersection of Bonanza Road and E. Eastern Avenue. According to police, Rodrigo Tomax and Chamilla Cabada-Garcia said they were in the car that hit the boy and turned themselves in early Wednesday morning. Tomax was the driver, police said.

He was arrested for failing to stop at the scene of an accident involving injury and has been booked at the Clark County Detention Center, a release said.

The accident remains under investigation.
