Driving You Crazy: Lane Confusion Near UNLV

LAS VEGAS - A viewer wants to know why two left turn lanes are used to exit UNLV campus – causing traffic delays in one of the lanes – instead of one left turn lane and one center through lane.

Traffic8 looked at the problem and discovered the center lane is already used for those going straight. There are not two turn lanes.

The current lane set-up for the three lanes is: left-turn only, center through lane and right-turn only. There are renewed pavement markings on the two outer lanes that indicate left and right.

The reason for the confusion stems from old pavement markings that are still visible enough to throw off drivers.

Traffic8 alerted county officials who plan to fix the problem by grinding out the old pavement markings, so it's clear left turns left, center goes straight, and right goes right. So when class is over, UNLV students will be able to leave campus with little trouble.
