Driving You Crazy: Lane shift at Stephanie and Patrick

HENDERSON, Nev. - A viewer is frustrated by traffic along northbound Stephanie Street near Patrick Lane. She says when Stephanie narrows from two lanes to one lane, drivers often speed up and cut off other drivers. Some will cause other drivers to swerve to avoid a collision.

Henderson officials say, from a design perspective, the lane reduction is supposed to make the intersection safer. They recognize that some drivers ignore the pavement markings and signs indicating the merge.

Henderson Police will mark the intersection for increased enforcement. Additionally, the more people who contact Henderson Police about this issue, the more enforcement drivers will see.

As for a long-term solution, city crews will expand Stephanie and remove the lane shift. The contract is still in the approval process. Once it's approved, the project should be completed by the end of 2015.
