Driving You Crazy: No U-Turns Allowed at Rainbow and Sunset

LAS VEGAS - Access to a convenience store on Rainbow Boulevard and Sunset Road is difficult due to a "No U-Turn" sign. A driver asks if the sign can be removed.

That sign is the only thing prohibiting a legal u-turn at this intersection. U-turns are legal anywhere in the valley, except where "No U-Turn" signs are posted. Many drivers at this intersection are making them anyway.

Traffic8 pitched the idea of making u-turns legal at this intersection to provide easier access to the store. Clark County officials said there is not enough pavement to permit u-turns.

The gas station seems to have paved the area in question, however, possibly providing space for the u-turn. Traffic8 will follow up with the county.

Additionally, a project is underway to widen Rainbow between Warm Springs Road and Tropicana Avenue, which includes improvements at Sunset - one of which may allow u-turns.
