Driving You Crazy: School Zone Sign in Henderson

HENDERSON, Nev. - A viewer says the 25 mile-per-hour school zone lights near St. Rose Parkway and Coronado Center Drive are flashing 24 hours a day.

Kids are back in school this week, and school zones are in effect, but 24 hours a day seems excessive.

School zones are in effect when flashers are active, when children are present, or during times posted on school zone signs. State law mandates school crossing zones from 30 minutes before school starts to 30 minutes after school gets out, not 24 hours a day.

School zones are not in effect when a school is not in session, on weekends or on holidays.

This problem was the result of a malfunction. The viewer brought the problem to the attention of Henderson officials, and crews have already fixed it.
