Ex-Nevada Assemblyman takes plea deal in high-speed chase

LAS VEGAS -- Former Nevada Assemblyman Steven Brooks took a plea deal Friday in connection with a high-speed chase and confrontation with California Highway Patrol troopers in March 2013.

Brooks agreed to plead no contest to charges of evading a police officer and resisting a police officer in exchange for a lighter sentence. His sentencing is set for July 25.

The chase and fight with troopers came after Brooks was expelled from the Nevada State Assembly, charged in connection with a domestic dispute with his estranged wife and indicted for illegal gun possession.
