FAA: Helicopter accident in Grand Canyon kills 1

MEAD, Ariz. (AP) -- Authorities say a pilot was killed in a helicopter accident in the Grand Canyon in northwestern Arizona.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor says the pilot was the only person aboard the Eurocopter AS350 helicopter when it rolled over onto its side while the pilot was moving it.

Gregor says the accident occurred late Sunday afternoon near the Grand Canyon West airport.

The airport is operated by the Hualapai Indian Tribe. A tribal spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Further information on the accident is not immediately available.
