Facebook Post of Puppy in Plastic Bag Leads to Charges

A 44-year-old woman and her 21-year-old son have been charged with animal cruelty after posting a photo of their Chihuahua puppy in a plastic bag on Facebook.

According to police, Mary Snell and her son, Britton Engel, were arrested in New Mexico after someone alerted police to the photo.

Police say Snell said she put the 8-week-old puppy, Baby, in a bag to show how small the dog was to her friends. According to KRQE-TV, Snell said she knew it was wrong, but didn't know "how she could get the little guy to hold still any other way."

Baby is doing fine and is now living with another family member, according to the Huffington Post.
