Family Court Marshal Placed on Leave

LAS VEGAS -- A Clark County family court marshal is on paid administrative leave because of abuse allegations, according to multiple court sources. This comes after a months-long I-Team investigation revealed the allegations of abuse by marshals at family court.

Former Lieutenant Steve Rushfield is accused of choking a woman in family court and covering up inappropriate sexual contact by marshals under his command.

Rushfield gave up his family court supervisor's position after the I-Team began its investigation in March 2013. Sources tell the I-Team that Rushfield was escorted out of the family court building Wednesday afternoon. Court officials have yet to respond to the I-Team on this matter.

The I-Team uncovered court video from Aug. 2011 that showed Monica Contreras at a family court hearing where she claimed she has been sexually touched by family court Marshal Ron Fox during a search. When Contreras told the hearing master of her allegations, the hearing master did nothing and Fox arrested Contreras accusing her of making a false accusation.

Fox's supervisor, Rushfield, was investigated for allegedly covering up the incident. Court marshals also testified to a grand jury they witnessed Rushfield choke a restrained woman in family court.

Rushfield was never charged with a crime.
