Family of five adopts six more!

Wed's Child

Las Vegas, NV - On Wed's Child, we sometimes wonder who would want to adopt siblings set of 3... 4... 5... Even 6 children at once!
But it *does* happen, and Dave Courvoisier is here to show us that it takes no special talent... Just the willingness to love, and see lives be changed.

The dining room table in this family home is big and accommodating...And always busy.  Kevin and Tami Prince already had three biological children of their own, but wanted to do more.

"We wanted a sibling set because they’re hard to place and so there’s a fair number of siblings that’s just waiting, says adoptive father, Kevin.

Right from the start, they included their three natural children in the decision.

"Well I think we had explained pretty well that these were kids either their parents couldn’t take care of them or chose not to take care of them. And so we had gone through that for a long time prior to us actually adopting, explains Tami, the adoptive mother.

Still, adjustments had to be made immediately when they went from a family of 5 to 11.

"Well it’s a shock to the system obviously you go from 3 to 9 and it’s a digital change, so there are a number of things that we had to learn along the way. For example we went all paper plates, all plastic silverware, a big trashcan in the kitchen and things like that. A big van," admits Kevin.

"At first Katelyn and I had two different reactions… she went into babysitter mode and I like dictatorship they were going to obey… and I have to learn how to be a sister sisters are supposed to be loving and caring and have fun with people," says Allison, the middle biological child.

So now, Lanasia, Chris, Kyle, Dana, Marcella, and Armani have the family they've always wanted... And everyone is home-schooled.

"Know they weren’t used to that. They were in public school. They did not like public school… there was some bullying and things and you just so obviously that doesn’t happen here," claims Kevin.

Some of the other challenges was just sorting out all the relationships... And for Kevin, who works from home:

"Well it was interesting what I didn’t really expect was the level of attention that they crave, and I mean I know from having kids that they need your attention and… but this was something beyond that… it was I would walk downstairs and six of them are dad dad!" explains Kevin.

But there are plenty of rewards too:

"Oh just watching them grow. You know the changes just in the last two years have been amazing!" admits Tami.

"The other thing is you know we feel we been adopted into God’s family and so that’s kind of how… what we’ve gotten a better understanding of what that means through this whole process and its it’s really fulfilling and just… it’s the least we can do really," adds Kevin.
