Elderly man dead following crash in east valley

LAS VEGAS - An 86-year-old man is dead after a crash on Nellis Boulevard near Desert Inn Drive on Saturday.

The collision happened just before 11:00 a.m.

Investigators with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department say the elderly driver failed to yield the right of way from a stop sign when turning on to Nellis from Vista Flora Boulevard.

He collided with another vehicle traveling southbound, police said. Medical responders rushed the man to Sunrise Hospital where he died.

The driver of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries.

This marks the 111th deadly crash in LVMPD's jurisdiction for 2017. The crash remains under investigation.
