Woman dies in snorkeling accident at Lake Mead

Lake Mead National Recreation Area officials say a woman was snorkeling in the Overton Arm of Lake Mead and died Sunday afternoon.

The woman was transported by boat to Callville Bay where she was met by first responders from the National Park Service, Nevada Department of Wildlife, Mercy Air and Callville Bay Resort and Marina.

The 63-year-old victim was not wearing a life jacket and could not be revived by medical personnel, she was pronounced dead at 2:36 p.m.

The Clark County Medical Examiner will confirm the victim’s identity and cause of death.

The incident is under investigation.
