Firefighters battling blaze in trees behind the Bellagio

LAS VEGAS - Firefighters are tackling a vegetation fire in the bushes behind the Bellagio.

When crews arrived at the scene, they found several Eucalyptus trees and other vegetation on fire, according to Fire Chief Greg Cassell, Clark County Fire Department.

High winds spread the fire quickly. There was also concern the smoke was causing visibility problems for drivers on northbound I-15.

Fire crews are continuing to put out the fire, which is in a tough location to access, Cassell said.

The fire is causing traffic delays on Frank Sinatra Drive. Drivers are advised to avoid the area.

The fire appears to have started at a homeless encampment, Cassell said. There are no reported injuries at this point.
