Firefly closes West Sahara location

LAS VEGAS — The Firefly on West Sahara is closing its doors for good.

On Sunday, owners John and Tabitha Simmons released the following statement:

"In an effort to continue revamping our operations and focus our full energy on delivering a safe, consistent, quality and fun dining experience to our loyal fans, we will be closing our WEST SAHARA Firefly*.

We cannot say enough about the efforts of the new management and staff at this location, however at this time it is necessary for us to downsize our operations. We will do our absolute best to rehire as many employees as possible at our Paradise location.

We are grateful for your patronage and we hope to see you again at our Paradise location.

Thank you again."

In April, the Henderson location was shut down

Last year, the health district closed the Firefly on Paradise because of poor food handling practices that led to an outbreak of salmonella that sickened hundreds of people.

Firefly on Paradise reopened at another location several weeks later and is their only location that remains open.
