MGM'S newest venue, the Park Theater, will open its doors in December. The $90,000,000 facility is part of a major investment into non-gaming attractions on the strip. Danie Bernbech is the executive director of the theater. Bernbech says, "the artists are going to feel their fans very close to them. The fans are going to feel like they're getting an immersive experience."
Bernbech gave us a tour of the facility tuesday. Bernbech says, "lots of floor to ceiling windows. Lots of natural light and indoor outdoor spaces."
Here's the rundown: 150,000 square feet, 5,200 seats will greet visitors inside the theater. Bernbech says, "the incredible LED wall that we are going to have in the back, 4,000 resolution, 80 ft by 40 ft and a projection surface which is about 250 ft wide, 50 ft. tall. Projection mapping on the two sides and that LED wall in the back really make it convenient for artist to do absolutely anything they want in the venue."
Stevie Nicks will headline the opening in two months. Bernbech says, "we're going to see icons in this venue, like Bruno Mars and Cher. They've done those big shows but here they're going to create something really special, really unique for their fans to see something they can't see somewhere else."
It'll be more than just a music venue. Bernbech says, "we'll be doing everything from concerts to UFC events to boxing. We can actually even fit a basketball court in here."
Bernbech says the theater has also been a boost for the local economy, bringing in as many as 300 jobs.
